Since it’s inception in 2013, Longitude has become an essential part of the Irish summer festival landscape routinely attracting esteemed international acts to play the Marley Park event.
The line up has gradually changed since it’s earlier years moving away from the indie rock vibes of 2019 to a more hip hop and dance feel in recent years, and the crowds have loved the change and the festival is constantly well attended.
Here is a list of some of the acts that we feel are worthy of your attention this weekend.
Sure to be one of the biggest draws over the weekend and one of the primary reasons that many people will be going to the festival at all. Cardi B has gradually developed the status as one of the biggest international figures in music.
The Dublin rapper is slowly starting to develop a reputation as one of the most intelligent wordsmiths in Irish music at the moment, as he investigates different elements of Irish culture in an honest and raw manner. There is a power to live performance by the talented Dubliner that makes for a compelling spectacle, as shown in the accompanying video from the Other Voices music festival. Definitely worth a look.
Fresh from his incredible and generation defining performance at the Glastonbury festival last weekend, Stormzy is sure to be one of the main draws for many of the people in attendance this weekend. The Croydon rapper has an admirable gift for being able to connect with audiences and create an atmosphere where everyone feels like part of the show, not to be missed.
The Tullamore three piece already have a string of well received and popular singles on Irish radio over the last two or three years, and this leads to some outstanding live shows from the Offaly outfit.
The Galway singer/songwriter remains one of my favourite Irish acts of the last few years, and continues to create some outstanding music. Her new EP Mad, which was released back in April 2019, was another accomplished and well received step forward for the performer and signified a sound that is constantly maturing.
