It has been such a strange year so far for everyone. None of us really seem to know exactly what is happening at the moment, but for some of us it has become a name of great productivity. One of those who has decided to use of this year to be proactive is Tipperary singer/songwriter, Johnny Bourke. The talented performer has just released his debut single to the world, and it’s pretty great.
Bourke spent the first half of this year playing shows around Australia and New Zealand, all the time honing his live performances, and this comes after spending the summer of last year putting together his debut single, Can’t Do Without. The song certainly has a very professional feel to it, having been produced by Jackson Dimiglio-Wood (who has famously worked with Shawn Mendes in the past) and remastered by Randy Merrill (Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and more).
This has the potential to become an anthem of the summer. With it’s up beat instrumentation, fun and heartfelt subject matter, and it’s ability to instantly get stuck in your head from the first listen.
There is a lovely texture to Bourke’s vocals as he sings about just wanting to get one chance with the girl he’s in love with. The lyrics are simple but effective, and the listener is left in no doubt as to genuineness of the performers feelings. The instrumentation also offers the perfect support for the sentiments at the core of the song, and it comes complete with a deadly guitar solo towards the end.
The song was released along with an acoustic version and a remix by Goldhouse.
Can’t Do Without is the song that summer 2020 needed.
