Back on the 23 March 2018, the eagerly awaited and anticipated second album by English singer/songwriter George Ezra, Staying at Tamara’s, was released. It was the day of my last observation day before I began my last ever block of school placement and as I was walking home from the school I decided to listen to the album. Walking home in the sunshine that day, it was impossible not to get swept along with one of the most positive and upbeat albums of the year so far. It was immediately clear to me what the standout track from the LP was, the magnificent Shotgun.

The track immediately had all the hallmarks of a George Ezra hit: fun and interesting lyrics; catchy chorus; upbeat instrumentation; and the ability to make you feel effortlessly happy and positive for the future.

Shotgun demonstrates that there is few pop musicians on the go at the moment who are capable of writing a feel good pop song like George Ezra.
